Situated in the Gothic-style area of the Old Royal Palace, the permanent exhibition called “The Story of Prague Castle” is intended to provide information about the whole thousand-year period of Prague Castle’s history. The exhibition is divided into two parts: on the main route visitors will learn about the Castle’s development in chronological order, about key rulers and events from the prehistoric period until the 20th century. Located along the main part, the second route called “Stories” maps selected topics, including the Story of Czech Patrons, the Story of Burial Practices, or the Church and Cathedral Story.
The exhibition displays a number of interesting exhibits, such as special buttons from the Great Moravia period, granulation-decorated earrings, the 11th century Codex Vyssegradensis, the famous Golden Bull of Sicily, or the 14th century St. George statue made of bronze. Furthermore, the exhibition includes a video on “Prague Castle Transformations”.
