The hall acquired its present character during an early Baroque reconstruction associated with the Italian architect, painter and sculptor Carlo Lurago.
A room originally made for dining
Because the refectory’s historic purpose was communal dining, its fresco programme contains biblical and legendary scenes connected with food — a particularly fitting background for a contemporary banquet.

The room’s scale and acoustics make it effective for classical or jazz concerts as well as conferences, ceremonial receptions and smaller gala programmes.
